Call For Papers ROYS 2023

Ridings of Yorkshire Society Call for Papers - 16th-17th June 2023

The Ridings of Yorkshire Society are back for 2023 with the annual ROYS conference. We are a group dedicated to celebrating Yorkshire’s past, and its researchers, across a variety of disciplines. We would like to invite researchers to submit abstracts for papers to present at the conference which will take place on the 16th and 17th of June 2023. Our two day conference will be held at the Leeds City Museum.

The conference will give researchers of Yorkshire’s cultural past the opportunity to present their work in a supportive and friendly environment. This year, as part of the Preservative Party’s ‘Overlooked’ exhibition we are looking for papers to form a special panel on the topic of ‘Overlooked’, in addition to our usual field of anything Yorkshire related. We invite papers from a variety of disciplines including but not limited to: English, History, Archaeology, and Film.

Paper presentations will be 20 minutes.

Please send an abstract of no more than 300 words for your proposed paper or a 100 word abstract for your poster to ridingsofyorkshire@gmail.com; alongside a short biography of yourself. If you’d like more information please get in touch.

Deadline for submission 01 May 2023

As the event is being held in the bottom floor of a museum please contact us for further details regarding accessibility.

If you would like to discuss a contribution to the ROYS conference that doesn’t take the form of a paper or poster presentation, please email ridingsofyorksihre@gmail.com to discuss this further.
